The Clearwater team has advised Profond on the sale of a majority share in Agro Energy Schwyz AG (AES), an electricity and heat supplier, to IWB, a leading service provider for renewable energy and energy efficiency.
AES supplies the Schwyz valley basin with around 90% CO2-neutral heat via its innovative heating network. AES operates the Wintersried energy centre in lbach and the district heating network in the Schwyz valley basin. Green electricity and heat are produced CO2-neutrally from regional biomass. A modern network of over 100 km in length and state-of-the-art production facilities - a wood-fired power plant, an ORC plant and a biogas plant as well as a large, innovative heat storage facility - ensure a particularly environmentally friendly heat supply with around 1500 connections. Founded in 2006, AES is growing continuously and will continue to consolidate and expand the network in the future.
The investment is part of IWB's strategy to grow with renewable energies and to decarbonise the heat supply - also outside the canton of Basel-Stadt. IWB is the public utility of the city of Basel and supplies the region with energy, water, telecommunication and mobility.
