Philipp Holst

After graduating in August 2020, I joined Clearwater and have since then supported our Automotive & Mobility as well as Tech team in the execution of M&A projects for a variety of clients. I enjoy being faced with interesting challenges in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions and working alongside an international network of experienced industry experts. I have a Master's degree in Management from IE Business School in Madrid and a Bachelor's degree in International Business from Maastricht University. During previous internships at BNP Paribas and PwC Malaysia, among others, I was able to gain further experience in the field of finance. Despite my roots in the far north (Hamburg), I enjoy spending my free time in the mountains, be it hiking in summer or skiing in winter.

Emmanuel Xerri

I founded the Clearwater team in Marseilles over 20 years ago. The Mediterranean region has many up-and-coming businesses which we are ideally placed to advise given our close proximity. I started my career in the corporate finance department of PwC and then joined EY. Following this I co-developed the activities of Edmond de Rothschild in Marseille for five years. Over the years, I have supported small and medium-sized companies that have sometimes become large corporations. The diversity of the transactions I have advised on makes me a generalist, or rather a multi-specialist across various sectors including business services, healthcare, industrials, specialised distribution, and TMT. More recently, I advised on the various build-up operations as well as the primary and secondary LBOs of the Cogepart Group, the French leader in last mile delivery. I also advised Hôpital Privée La Casamance on the merger with the Almaviva group and the entry of FrenchFood Capital into Markal, a major player in the organic food sector. Today, Clearwater International is ideally positioned to accompany clients through the increasingly rapid changes in the market, remaining adaptable and utilising our sector specialists in both our French and international teams to meet client goals.

Mark Taylor

I have spent my whole career within financial services, initially as a corporate banker before becoming a corporate finance adviser in 2010. My initial role within Clearwater was to head up the Debt Advisory business until I became CEO of the UK Business in 2020. I also sit on the International Board.

Malin Thimgren

I began my role as Financial & Project Manager at Clearwater International Sweden in August 2023. Prior to this, I worked as an accountant at a firm handling clients across diverse industries, from interior designers to tech companies. I am eager to expand my knowledge and expertise at Clearwater, while contributing to the growth of the wider business.

Sarah McMurdo

With over 30 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant in both practice and industry, I joined Clearwater in 2016, at an exciting time of the UK and International growth. It is very rewarding to be part of the continued development of the Clearwater business and work alongside such a team of talented people.

Rob Burden

I’m a Partner at Clearwater and lead the international Business Services team. I’ve been in M&A for nearly 20 years, always focused on advising entrepreneurs, founders and Private Equity clients. Since joining Clearwater in 2014 I’m proud to have delivered deals across the business services sector and have developed specific expertise in the Education and Training market.

Rodrigo Morelli

I have spent the last few years dedicating myself to my studies, I am an economist and recently graduated with a master's degree in finance from Católica Porto Business School. I started my career at Clearwater as an intern in 2023 and I am currently as an analyst for the Deal Origination team in Portugal.

Dierk Rottmann

In my role as Co-Head of our Debt Advisory activities in the DACH region, together with my partner Dr. Heinrich Kerstien, I am responsible for advising medium-sized companies on all corporate finance issues. We are proud that leading international companies such as Trumpf, ZEISS, Symrise, Wieland, Infraserv, and enercity as well as many others have trusted us for many years and repeatedly rely on our experience and the added value of our advisory expertise. Furthermore, as International Head of Energy & Utilities, I have been advising companies from the energy industry on all M&A and financing issues for many years. In 2000, I co-founded the corporate finance consultancy @VISORY partners, which merged with Clearwater in early 2016. Previously I worked for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Rothschild. I have an eye for design and detail and am an enthusiastic fan of turf sports - whether passively at Mainz05 or actively on the golf course.

Mark de Waal

I joined Clearwater in 2024, after having gained experience at a mid-market M&A boutique and a private equity fund. I hold a bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from VU University Amsterdam and a master’s degree in Finance from Bocconi University in Milan. Furthermore, I have completed an exchange program at Warwick Business School in the UK.
