We have advised the investment firm Jysk-Fynsk Kapital on the sale of DOT, the leading provider of steel surface treatment services in the Nordics, to investment company Kirk Kapital.
DOT was founded in 1955 as a single factory providing hot-dip galvanising services to local steel product manufacturers. It has since expanded to Fasterholt in Jutland, where its current headquarters is located. The company has acquired several factories across the Nordics and now operates 10 facilities in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. DOT offers a comprehensive range of surface treatment solutions, including galvanising, powder coating, wet painting, and metallisation. The group is renowned in the industry for its excellent quality, efficient logistics services with short lead times, and technical know-how in providing advice to customers.
Jysk-Fynsk Kapital, a Danish investment company formed by four high-net-worth families with experience from current and previous ownerships in industrial companies, invests in and provides strategic support for a portfolio of Danish companies.
Kirk Kapital is an investment company owned by the Kirk Johansen family, descendants of Lego Group founder Ole Kirk Christiansen. The company manages more than $2.7bn (€2.4bn) in assets under management and focuses on strategic and financial investments.
Following the transaction, Kirk Kapital will offer strategic guidance to DOT’s management team to continue its buy-and-build strategy aimed at becoming the clear market leader in all Nordic countries. Additionally, as Kirk Kapital typically holds minority equity stakes in its portfolio companies, the new owner intends to invite other investors into the shareholder structure.
